For Holy Terra Because space is scary

Captain and Librarian

Even though I haven't received the bases yet, I wanted to put together at least two of my special characters to really get a feel for the army.  I'm leaning heavily toward the artistic side of the fluff for my Blood Angels, so with the exception of a few bitz here and there, my troops are all going to be made from stuff found on the Sanguinary Guard and Death Company sprues.  I wish there was less emphasis on the DC saltires in the sprues, but I think I can work around that.

So, here's the Captain:

He's got the backpack from the Space Marine Commander sprue, a Glaive Encarmine that stands in as a Power Sword, and an Infernus Pistol.

But wait!  He's got a Jump Pack, Power Fist and Plasma Pistol!

In fact, he's got a lot of different configurations.  I'm also planning to give him a Combi-melta and extended Chainsword so that he can stand in as Tycho or Seth without having to build a bunch of different models.

And here's how I achieved this:

Magnets in each shoulder and one in the back above the bump that holds the pack.  The hardest part of this was gluing the shoulder pads in place.  There's not a lot of room to work there, and I had to be quick about pulling the arms out out one I had the pad in place.  I wound up using a bit of Green Stuff on the right pad and trimming the tops of the arms down.  I'm going to have to repeat this process a few times as well, because I plan on bringing the same level of customization to all of my Sergeants and some of my Death Company.

Now, on to the Librarian:

I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best hand at Green Stuff, so the cables don't look as awesome as they could were I a better sculptor.  They do the job, though.  The libby here has the same backpack trick as the captain:

I used the head from the Devastator Sergeant because I think it's one of the cooler Vanilla Marine heads, and it fits because apparently the Blood Angels are the only Space Marines that don't shave their heads. For the Psychic Hood, I took a shoulder pad from the Commander sprue and carved it up to resemble the hood.  I had to file down the top of the torso in order to get a good fit.  He's got an Angelus Boltgun which is going to double as a Bolt Pistol here because I wanted the hand free for tossing out Blood Lances.
