Shipped!

No real update here because I spent most of my hobby time this weekend working on six pewter miniatures for a friend's birthday present.  I did get a notification that my bases have shipped!

Bases

Ahh, bases.  My Crimson Fists were all based with plaster in rock molds, which looks cool but was a pain to work with due to all that dust and getting correct placement so that Pedro and crew didn't look like they were tipping over.  The plaster also gobbled up primer. For my Salamanders, I went with a far easier method involving basing sand and grass (and for the Terminators, some unfortunate 'gaunts).   My Blood Angels, however, are going to need something a bit classier.  I need something better than sand, but less annoying to work with than plaster.  Resin bases it is!

After poring over the handy list of resin bases on From the Warp, I finally settled on the Urban bases from Dark Art Miniatures.

I was originally going to go with a desert theme to be reminiscent of Baal (paint-wise, I'll probably still lean toward a desert feel with these), but I settled on the urban theme primarily due to the fact that Dark Art's prices were the best and they only had one set of 28mm bases for their desert theme.  They had a wider selection in their Urban range, so I picked up two of their combo packs and an extra pack of 10 28mm bases, which ran me $40 (including shipping from the UK).  This will allow me to base two dreadnoughts, 10 Terminators, and 50 Marines.  Hopefully I won't have immediate need for more than that, especially since I'm not planning for Terminators (yet).
