Grey Knights Stormraven

Here’s the wildly magnetized Grey Knights Stormraven I’ve been working furiously on:

I spent a lot of time on the cockpit. The pilot might look like he’s sitting a bit odd, but that’s due to the fact that he’s neither glued in place nor his arms yet. Almost there.

Check this part out:

I took off the hideous ramscoop and flattened it out with plasticard. You can also see the start of my freehand Inquisition logo back there as well. And no, those wings aren’t going to get glued on…

They’re magnetized for easy transport! Also, the servitor turret will pop off to allow weapon interchange, and will also come off for transport.

And now the fun:

That’s not glued on, either.

The chin turret is magnetized for all three options! Believe me, that was a chore. I’ll post more complete pics of it later. For now, it’s almost done!

looks good, did you use a metallic spray can for the base colour?

I used Citadel Chaos Black spray (expensive, but still the best I’ve used), and then hit it with an airbrush for the base, using a 3/2 mix of Vallejo Model Air Steel and Vallejo Model Air Black with a few drops of airbrush thinner.  I then made it a 1/3 mix of Steel to Black and went over the engine cowlings

Also, it doesn’t show in these angles, but I then masked it and laid down the heraldry with Vallejo Model Air White and then Vallejo Model Air Red.

My airbrush died right in the middle of coating a Dreadknight for a friend, so I wound up borrowing a nice Iwata brush.  $130 retail, but I may need to make it a permanent part of my toolkit.

I’ve heard some very good things about the Iwata.  It might be worth it, especially with all the airbrushing you do.

        Looking good so far, chief!
